New Member Retreat

This past Saturday, February 18, new AIESEC members and the EB attended the new member retreat! We played a series of icebreaker and team strengthening games that involved memory, wit, and teamwork. Sandy Burton, founder of Swiss Avenue Partners, gave a presentation explaining how to effectively use alumni contacts to bring in funds. A huge thanks to Sandy for taking the time to talk to us! The new members broke off into their perspective committees for team workshops. We concluded the retreat by choosing a song and deciding on the choreography for the upcoming ROKS conference dance. Please look forward to a spectacular routine that might just blow your mind!

New Member Induction

Today, at 6:30pm, new AIESEC members and the EB gathered for induction! We had an informative icebreaker concerning toilet paper, introduced the new members to our @acronyms, and then divided into teams to begin assigning tasks.

The circle closer to the camera is of the Talent Management Team, lead by Jany Xu (red jacket.) In the back, the Incoming Exchange Team is listening attentively to Thomas Price (sitting on the table.)

We are so excited to have you guys and definitely look forward to working with you in the coming months!

For the new members, remember that New Member Retreat will be on Saturday February 18th, location TBA.

And for everyone else, please welcome the new members to AIESEC!

First General Meeting Update

Our First General Meeting was tonight. It was great seeing all of your excited, happy faces again! For those of you who are curious, we discussed the changes the new Executive Board is making. Just a few things to place on your radar:

AIESEC Austin is hosting National Presidents Meeting (NPM) from March 30 – April 1. This is an extremely exciting opportunity to meet AIESEC Presidents from all over the United States, learn more about our national network, and showcase the wonders of the city of Austin. Applications for one of the six positions on the Organizing Committee (OC) have been sent through the listserv and are due by Saturday. Everyone is encouraged to apply for this once-in-the-four-or-five-years-you-will-be-a-student-here opportunity.

We also had updates from all the VPs about their respective teams. Please check on Podio for more details.

All in all, it is starting out to be a great semester. I hope to see you all again soon!

New Spring, New Team!

Hey everyone! Welcome back to another wonderful, AIESEC-filled semester. My name is Jennifer Hsu, the VP Information Management for 2012. I hope that this website can become a powerful tool of communication. That means this website will be undergoing renovations, as well as publishing weekly updates, articles, and notes on what AIESEC is up to, both here in Austin and around the world.

This week, the EB has been busy recruiting, tabling, setting LC goals, planning, and discussing what we can do to make this semester a success for you.

It ended with a blast, of course! On Saturday, we ended a long day of goal-defining with a trip to Blazer Tag plus a touch of international – an Italian AIESECer named Massimo.

3. The application is due by the Thursday, February 2nd at 2:00pm

4. Interviews will be held on Friday, February 3rd in the Atrium of McCombs (third floor, big green study/eating/cafeteria area.) Your interview time will be e-mailed to you when you finish the application.
